The senator representing Jigawa Northwest senatorial zone, Babangida Hussain (Walin Kazaure) has donated his 10 million naira furniture allowance to students’ scholarships at the tertiary institutions in his constituency.

The students were selected from 137 wards of the 12 Local Government Areas of the zone. The scholarship targeted 274 students from across the 137 wards which makes 2 students per wards.

Moreso, the event took place at the Wali Education Foundation Center (WEFC) in the Ringim Local Government Area of the state.

The foundation was established to support students, youths, women, and orphans through education and entrepreneurial skills.

In his speech during the handing over of the 10 million naira cheque to the foundation, Senator Babangida Hussain said the support goes to science and engineering students to create skills among youths in the zone.

“This support is for science and engineering students. It is not that other studies are not good but we want our students to have skills, this is also the first phase, we will continue supporting students in this zone” he said.

He said not only science and technical subjects but other studies are very important and would be looked after in the future.

Walin Kazaure said his foundation would continue to support agriculture, health, and other entrepreneurial skills to revamp the socio-economic standard of the people.

According to the senator, “Our priority goes to human welfare, ensuring better life through agriculture, entrepreneurial skills, education and other benefitting programmes”.

Furthermore, the senator said, “As we promised during our campaigns, we entered politics to develop our community. Today marks one month since our inauguration as lawmakers. As you can all see, we have begun to change the narrative in politics. A clear example of this is our recent decision to reject the military action against the coup juntas in Niger.

“After careful consideration, we realized that we have a long and close relationship with Niger, especially those of us from northern Nigeria. We have family, marriage, and religious ties with them. History has shown that war is never the answer. Reconciliation is always the better option. That is why we northern senators rejected the military action.

He continued, “Although our job as lawmakers is to represent our constituents, this does not mean that we will stop helping our people. That is why we have established this foundation. The foundation will have different categories, on education, we will assist science and engineering students, primary school, secondary school and teachers.

“We are doing all of this as our responsibility to our people. All we ask of you is your prayers, understanding, and love for one another. I assure you that I will continue on this path of making sure that your voices are heard.

“I thank God for allowing us to inaugurate this foundation. I chose Ringim to be the headquarters of this foundation because of the love and support that the people of this town have shown me. I am the son of the emir of Ringim, and therefore Ringim is my home. Any person who works with this foundation must come from this town.

“With this, I urge you to continue praying for our nation. May Allah protect us from flooding.”

He called on the beneficiaries to dedicate themselves to their studies so that they will become the leaders of tomorrow.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Executive Secretary of the foundation, Salisu Umar, said the students were selected through a committee across all the communities in the senatorial district.

“Two students were selected from each of the 127 wards of the 12 LGAs of the senatorial district to benefit from the gesture. The students are those studying Science and Engineering in various institutions across the country. And this is just the beginning, others, including primary pupils, will also benefit from a similar gesture,” Umar assured.

The Executive Secretary, who commended the lawmaker for his foresight in supporting students in the constituency, urged the beneficiaries to study hard to complement the investment made in them by the lawmaker.

The foundation was established to support students, youths, women, and orphans through education and entrepreneurial skills.
