Karimnagar: ‘Intinta innovator’ fostering the talent of young scientists

A student named T Anjali Karthika from Dr BR Ambedkar Government Model Residential Polytechnic for Women in Karimnagar has developed a touch Operator Agriculture Starter with timing control. This invention is aimed at helping farmers who often get electrocuted while operating irrigation motors. The starter also saves time and petroleum costs for farmers.

The Touch Operator Agriculture starter works by switching on the motor when it is touched and switching it off when it is touched again. It also has a timing control system that allows the motor to automatically switch on and off at a scheduled time without the need for remote or mobile controlling apps.

According to Anjali, the product is designed to be affordable for normal farmers. It can be easily operated without a cell phone by setting the time on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

In another development, a ninth-grade student named T Vikram, under the guidance of Physics teacher D Koundinya from Vani Secondary School Centenary Colony in Peddapalli, has created an innovation called ‘Rythu Kanthi’. This device helps farmers deal with pest issues and also promotes healthy food for consumers.

The main problem faced by farmers is pests and bugs that destroy crops between 6 pm and 10 pm. Rythu Kanthi is an automatic solar device that turns on a light at 6 pm and turns it off at 10 pm. This light attracts pests, which are then killed by soap water present in the device.

Rythu Kanthi costs around Rs 800-700 and reduces pesticide usage by 80 percent, thus saving money for farmers. The device consists of a stand, a bulb with a rechargeable battery, a small solar panel, a timer, and two tubs.

These innovations by students show great potential for improving agricultural practices and addressing the challenges faced by farmers.
