Sen. Scott and Donald Trump |
Donald Trump is set to break a lot of records in the US election 2024. There are a number of reasons why this election may be historic.
Another World Cup
These next four years are very significant in terms of international relations and trade deals. Trump is hell bent on “banging a drum” when it comes to trade deals. This will be a big test for the Trump-Pence duo. Trade deals and foreign relations have been put on the back burner. While being perceived to be an isolationist country, this will be the test if the US can actually do it. The immediate challenges for the Trump-Pence duo is the changing geo-political environment. Not just Brexit, but the rise of the Islamic State has influenced America.
As a nation, while trying to heal the wounds of previous administrations, Trump is working towards economic growth. Trump is also mindful of how the US looks like on the world stage. This election in 2024 is particularly important. If the Trump-Pence duo can make a breakthrough when it comes to trade deals, this will be a big advantage for America’s economy.
These are likely to be the kind of events that will likely happen in 2024. The political climate will be no different from now. However, at that time, there will be another President, with a huge fan base in the USA, and who will go by the name of Trump. Trump has had a rough ride so far. He has his detractors. With the Democrats nominating Hillary Clinton in the next election, Trump has made it very clear that he wants to take his country back.
Contrast with France 2024
The French election will be held in 2024. No one is expecting Emmanuel Macron to continue in the same vein as Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife created new variables. However, one thing remains constant, and that is Donald Trump will try to break records. Trump and Pence are eyeing a third term in 2024. How can anyone say no to that?

Trump vs Scott
Scott has been running for office since 2006. He has failed at every time he has run. This election will be different. Scott is running for a third time. It’s been over 40 years since a US Senator from Florida ran for office for a third time. Will Scott actually win in 2024? Will he win the race without the popular vote? Will Scott be able to prove that the “establishment” in Florida can be trumped?
Race in 2024
The US is becoming more diverse, racially. In 2020, Florida will be 29.6% minority. Trump won only 8% of the black vote and only 12% of the Hispanic vote. Hillary Clinton won the black vote by 44%, the Hispanic vote by 71%. Obama won the white vote by almost 84%. The black vote had increased by 10% in 2016. This fact has not been lost on the Trump-Pence duo. Florida has about 6.1 million non-Hispanic whites in the state. That makes it Florida’s largest minority. Scott’s views on race have not only been polarising, but also alienating. Although he is a little more moderate now, his record is still problematic.
The way Trump talks about Hispanics is the polar opposite of the way Scott talks about Hispanics. For example, during a September 2015 Republican debate, Scott spoke about stopping illegal immigration.

“Let’s go after the illegal aliens, we do not want them here,” said Scott. “They are taking American jobs, hurting Florida businesses, making it hard for parents to get child care because they are afraid they are going to get picked up by federal agents. They are hurting Florida’s families. I’m talking about our illegal aliens, not our illegal children.”
In contrast, Donald Trump said: “I will build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me. And I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”
Obama steps up support for Clinton to fend off Trump threat
“Building the wall” is at the core of Trump’s campaign. Scott’s views on immigration was simply wrong in 2015. On every state of Florida, there are approximately 10,000 illegal immigrants living and working in the state. A majority of these immigrants were from Latin America, but also from Asia. All of these immigrants were legal immigrants before Trump became president. Many of the undocumented immigrants are from Mexico and other countries that do not have trade deals with the US.
The fact that Donald Trump is going to break all sorts of records in the US election 2024 is not a concern for Scott. He will face a problem that he has faced in every election since 2006. He’s never won a statewide election. He’s lost a race for Governor by 3%. He’s lost races for the US Senate and US Congress. However, Trump is even less popular in Florida than he is nationally. Trump will win Florida only by winning the Hispanic vote. Scott will lose badly if Trump alienates the black vote. Will Scott’s policies on immigration be enough to win the support of Florida’s Hispanic community? Will he be able to convince the Latino voters of Florida that he’s going to keep them safe? Will he convince the African-American voters that he’s going to keep them safe?
Donald Trump vs Oprah
It’s true. Trump is pretty good at winning the endorsement of celebrities. He’s already won the endorsements of Kanye West, Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Ted Nugent and Lou Ferrigno.
It was rumored that the people of Chicago wanted Oprah Winfrey to run for president in 2016. Despite not having a political background, and despite never seeking political office before, Oprah seemed to be a perfect candidate. Oprah endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Oprah spoke out against Trump in the wake of the infamous Access Hollywood tape. Trump said she was “inclined to be a nasty woman”.
To Win the Presidency in 2020, Oprah Winfrey must prove her political credentials. Trump won the presidential primaries by campaigning in rust belt states like Michigan and Ohio. To win the presidency in 2020, Oprah must run in big states like California. Trump won the popular vote. There’s no way she can win the presidency by appealing to the white vote alone. Oprah will have to win the support of black and Hispanic voters in big cities.
Trump has already won the support of the LGBT community. His daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Trump, are both gay. Given her great influence in the White House, it is highly likely that Trump will win the support of the LGBT community.
One of the things that has worked in Trump’s favour during this campaign is that he has stayed out of the mudslinging. He’s said and done all the things that people want him to say and do. He’s ruled out campaigning with some of his primary rivals. The most “sinister” things that he has said are his words about Hillary Clinton’s husband.
In the end, a decision on whether to run for president in 2020 will depend on Trump’s reaction to Hillary’s attack on him at the second debate. One of the best things that Trump could do is to stick to his word and treat Hillary with the dignity that the United States deserves. He must show respect and dignity. He must remain silent. Hillary has no legitimate reason to attack him. She’s lost, and the American people will respect Trump if he does not respond to her attack.
