Biden's age and mental abilities under scrutiny as 2024 campaign approaches, causing concern among allies and critics alike.

Sentos News - As President Biden prepares for a potential re-election bid in 2024, his age and mental and physical abilities are expected to come under scrutiny from his critics, according to a report by The Hill. Democrats are already preparing for attacks on the 80-year-old president's age and mental competence, with strategists noting that Campaign travel is grueling and that he'll be scrutinized more than any other candidate. Republicans have already begun making age and mental acuity part of their argument, the report said, citing the wall-to-wall coverage of Biden's fall from a bicycle last summer.

The 2024 election will be different from the 2020 race, when Biden campaigned mostly from the basement of his Delaware home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden won't have that option this time and will have to show he can handle the rigors of a campaign while managing the nation's daily affairs. Strategists say Biden will be judged not only on his interplay with voters but also on his "vigor as a campaigner," and that critiques may be more significant this time around.

Biden's supporters point to his recent trip to Ukraine, which required a roughly 10-hour train ride in and out, as evidence that he's up for the challenge. However, critics are expected to seize on every gaffe or stumble as proof that he's not fit for the job. Democratic strategist Christy Setzer said the Biden campaign will adapt to the challenges, but emphasized that he will win based on his accomplishments and an understanding that he's not looking to "burn the country down." Meanwhile, Jason Miller, a longtime adviser for former President Trump who is working on his 2024 campaign, responded to The Hill report on Twitter, calling it "weak and feeble."
