Juvenile Defendant with History of Violence Poses Potential Threat, Affidavit State
An 8-year-old boy from Florida has been arrested after allegedly attacking another child with a kitchen knife on Saturday. The incident took place at a home in Clermont, where the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a child cutting another child on the throat. The boy is facing multiple charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, and resisting a law enforcement officer.
According to an affidavit obtained by FOX 35 Orlando, the juvenile victim is a foster child who lives at the residence and was choked by the suspect. When the victim said he could not breathe, the 8-year-old let him go and allegedly swung a kitchen knife, cutting the victim's throat. A neighborhood friend retrieved the knife from the suspect, who then tried to hit the victim with a stick but was stopped by multiple juveniles.

The 8-year-old allegedly asked for the knife back and threatened to "kill everyone" before going back into the residence to look for another knife. Upon arrival, the deputy observed the juvenile outside the residence crying and saying he did not want to be taken away. The child resisted multiple attempts to be placed in handcuffs and kicked a master deputy and the patrol vehicle.

The affidavit stated that the suspect has a history of violence at the residence and towards others, and the foster children are in fear of him. The 8-year-old has been taken to the Lake County Detention Center. This incident has sparked concerns about juvenile violence and the need for appropriate interventions to prevent such incidents in the future.
