Nasarawa State Governor Clarifies Purpose of Visit to FCT Minister
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has addressed recent allegations that his visit to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, was an attempt to influence the ongoing Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in the state. Governor Sule clarified that his visit was aimed at fostering collaboration between Nasarawa and the FCT for infrastructural development.
During the meeting with Minister Wike, the discussion centered on constructing a metro line from Apo in the FCT to Keffi, Nasarawa State, as well as the development of the 13,000-hectare Gurku/Kabusu mega city, which is located near Maitama II in Abuja.
The state chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Francis Orogu, had expressed concerns about Governor Sule's interactions with prominent political figures, including President Bola Tinubu and Minister Wike.
Governor Sule, speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, emphasized that the purpose of his visit was to explore collaboration opportunities with relevant individuals and organizations in the FCT, which is home to a significant number of Nasarawa State residents.
Ahemba stated, "Nasarawa State has witnessed and still recording tremendous progress under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s led government as a result of such collaborations with relevant individuals and organizations."
He also defended the governor against opposition party claims, stating, "His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule is not in any way surprised at this deliberate falsehood by the opposition party, as such has been the antics of the opposition party in the state and its style of politics, which the governor views as normal behavior of any opposition political party."
Ahemba concluded that Governor Sule remains focused on governance and will not be distracted by opposition tactics, expressing confidence in the judiciary's ability to deliver justice impartially.
This clarification comes amid heightened political tensions in Nasarawa State as the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal proceedings continue.
