The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that two Margabajas of Chhattisgarh named Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal have committed a money laundering scam of Rs 5,000 crore through a digital platform created for online betting.

The ED and other central agencies have been probing the betting racket run in Mahadev's name for a long time. For some time now, investigations have become faster and raids are being conducted. ED has seized cash and property worth Rs 417 crore in this raid. The rail of this scam has also reached the feet of film stars including Sunny Leone, Tiger Shroff, Nusrat Bharucha, Vishal Dadlani, Bhagyashree. When Saurabh Chandrakar got married in Ras Al-Khaimah in UAE in February 2023, these stars were present and 117 crore rupees were paid to him through hawala, ED investigation has revealed.

When it comes to the involvement of film stars in crime in India, any case gets diverted towards it. The same has happened in this case and the film stars who danced in Saurabh Chandrakar's wedding have come to center stage but in reality these film stars are small fish among the people associated with Mahadev App. The crores paid to these film stars is huge to the common man but tiny in the context of the entire scam. 5000 crores of money has been laundered through this app. The app was running since 2017 and when people were young during the Corona period, the whole scam is worth billions.

These billions of rupees are coming to Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the creators of Mahadev App, but not all the money has gone to those people. He gave money to people associated with the network of panels created by Saurabh and Ravi but also gave crores of rupees to leaders and big officers. ED claims that through Vinod Verma, arrangements have been made to get regular installments to the top officials and leaders sitting in Chhattisgarh government. Vinod Verma was the political advisor of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

According to the ED, two hawala operator brothers Sunil Damani and Anil Damani used to receive money through hawala from Dubai. This money was given to Satish Chandrakar who is a relative of Saurabh Chandrakar. Satish used to deliver installments of crores through Chhattisgarh Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Chandrabhushan Verma to top officials and top leaders sitting in the Chief Minister's office. ED has arrested Damani brothers, Verma and Chandrakar in this case.

Vinod Verma has claimed that he has nothing to do with the scam but the ED says that Verma has sheltered Saurabh and Chandrakar in Chhattisgarh. Engineer Uppal is the real player, not Chandrakar

Saurabh Chandrakar spent Rs 200 crore on his wedding and invited film stars including Sunny Leone, Tiger Shroff. ED claims that these film stars were paid crores of rupees. A picture is being created that Saurabh is the main man of Mahadev Online Book but actually Ravi Uppal is the main character of Mahadev App.

Saurabh Chandrakar is 28 years old and has studied only up to 10th standard while 43 years old Ravi Uppal is an engineer. In Bhilai, Saurabh's father Ramesh Chandrakar is a pump operator in the Nagar Palika and Saurabh himself used to run a juice shop. Uppal's father had a puncture shop, so engineer Ravi used to come there. This is why Ravi and Saurabh came in contact. Saurabh wanted to earn money overnight so he used to find ways to earn money with Uppal. Out of them, Ravi gave him the idea of ​​making a betting app. After Saurabh went to Dubai, he mentioned this idea to a sheikh and he got interested. Sheikh found two Pakistani financiers. Chandrakar also called Ravi to Dubai. Ravi got hold of programmers to create an app and thus Mahadev Online Book started.

How money comes to Mahadev app?

Mahadev Online Book was providing a platform for playing poker, cards, games of chance etc. besides illegally betting on live games including cricket, badminton, football, tennis. Apart from virtual cricket, users can also play card games like Tin Patti, Poker, Dragon Tiger etc. Apart from this, he used to bet on different elections in India. For this, different websites were created by Mahadev Online Book. Apart from this, a large number of closed groups were created by the panel owners on the instant messaging apps that gambled internally.

If a person clicks on an advertisement on the website of Mahadev Online Book, he is asked to contact a specific WhatsApp number. When the user contacts that number, two different numbers are given. A user ID is provided while depositing money to a number. Points earned based on the bets played in the account with this user ID would be credited.

The second number is for converting these points into cash. The money deposited by the user goes to the benami account and is withdrawn from it immediately. Normally, 20% of the amount deposited by the user would be returned to him in the form of earned points, while 80% of the amount would go to Chandrakar and Uppal.
