After the end of Colonel Gaddafi's one-cycle rule, Libya has been in conflict with two parallel governments, but the Libyan National Army is the real ruler. Khalifa Haftar is the commander of the Libyan National Army. Libya is the tenth largest producer of crude oil in the world. Haftar controls Libya's oil wells. Wagner Group soldiers are deployed to protect the oil well.

Yevkurov said when he met Haftar that the Wagner Group would continue to fight on Haftar's behalf but would now be under direct control of Moscow.
