Delhi talk: IPC out, old liquor in a new bottle

NEW DELHI: Legal experts are calling the bill to replace the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act in the Lok Sabha on the last day of the monsoon session of Parliament as old wine in a new bottle. The Indian Judicial Code, the Indian Civil Protection Code and the Indian Evidence Bill will replace the IPC, CrPC and the British-era Evidence Act respectively.

At present, it has been decided to send these three bills to the parliamentary committee for scrutiny. The bills provide for the death penalty for mob lynching and rape of a minor while repealing the Sedition Act.

Legal experts believe that the Government is better than the British era law but is doing it with an incomplete mind. If the government wants to bring justice to the people, there is a need to fix accountability in the law. Justice means timely justice but there is no such provision so changing a few laws will not make any difference.

When will BJP women leaders go to Manipur?

In Rajasthan's Bhilwara, the issue of rape and murder of an innocent girl is in the news. In the wake of this report, Nadda has expressed hope that the people will rally the Ashok Gehlot government in the elections by claiming that jungle raj is prevailing in Rajasthan.

Nadda's comments on social media and the visit of BJP women leaders to Rajasthan have not gone down well with people. People are asking that, when the team of women MPs of BJP under the leadership of Madam Rekha is going to visit Manipur? The incident in Rajasthan is very serious and the incident in Manipur is also serious, then why the discrimination? Atrocities on women in a Congress-ruled state are considered more serious than the atrocities in a BJP-ruled state?
