Strikes in Hollywood, panic among actors over threat of AI

- The striking actors are more worried about AI than salary increase as AI has started eating the jobs of actors, writers, technicians etc. Many of Hollywood's top studios are ramping up their use of AI, leaving people unemployed. In future big studios can do anything using AI. It's absolutely possible to make an entire movie or series with the help of five-seven AI experts doing the work of hundreds of people, so everyone will be wasted. Considering that making a commercial does not require many people, those involved in making a commercial will become completely idle.

Hollywood is the largest industry in the world producing entertainment films, web series, TV serials, TV shows etc. Hollywood films, web series, TV serials, TV shows, etc. make such quality entertainment content, so it is constantly discussed all over the world, but there is not much discussion about the fact that the people associated with this entertainment are on strike for more than a hundred days.

The strike of people associated with entertainment in Hollywood was started by writers. After that, actors and other professionals also joined it. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SEG-AFTRA) is the largest association in Hollywood. The guild, which has around 1.65 lakh members, also has top Hollywood stars as members. As these top stars have also joined the strike, 90 percent of entertainment production in Hollywood has come to a standstill.

This strike is due to two reasons. The first reason is salary hike and the second reason is the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI). Economic situation in America is not very good. Inflation is increasing and inflation is also increasing. The US government is trying to stop inflation but it is not matching. The Hollywood strike has demanded that compensation be increased in line with rising inflation. At the same time, the use of AI should also be limited so that unemployment does not increase.

Apart from the age-old producers such as Marvel, Paramount, Disney etc., there are also very powerful players who have come in the last two-three decades like Apple, Amazon, Netflix, NBC Universal, Sony etc. in the entertainment content making studios. It is also an association of people. The association is ready for a salary hike but they are not ready to give the artistes the hike they want.

Artists say that right now, studios are paying so little money that they are not even making ends meet. In America, a minimum annual income of $26,000 is required to get health insurance, but almost 90 percent of artists do not earn even $26,000. Most of the artist's jobs are part-time so they don't get any other benefits. This is why salary increase is inevitable.

The artists want an 11 percent increase in the minimum wage this year and 8 percent each in the next two years. The studio owners are ready to give 5 percent hike this year and 7.5 percent every year for the next two years, but they are not ready to give 11 percent hike this year in any case. He offered a package of 1 billion dollars to artists but it is not enough. Talks have broken down as studios are also fighting over reducing the use of AI.

Hollywood has had a system for years that when a movie is shown on TV or a serial or show is rebroadcast, all the actors who work in it get royalties. Streaming networks do not follow this rule. Artistes also object to the fact that they shirk their responsibility by giving a small amount while shooting. The striking actors are more worried about AI than salary increase as AI has started eating the jobs of actors, writers, technicians etc. Many of Hollywood's top studios are ramping up their use of AI, leaving people unemployed. Marvel Studios, the maker of several superhit Hollywood films, created the episode names and opening sequences of the 'Secret Invasion' series with the help of AI tools.

At least writers had a role in this work, while software developer Nicholas Neubert has made a 48-second trailer of a sci-fi film with the help of AI. Actors and writers got angry due to this trailer made without using writers or actors. He realized that in the future, big studios can use AI to entertain artists, technicians, actors, writers.

This threat is not limited to movies or entertainment. The famous German car manufacturing company Volkswagen has just made a commercial. Popular and iconic Brazilian musician Alice Regina passed away in 1982. Director Dulicidio Caldeira has shown Regina, who passed away 40 years ago, singing a duet with her daughter Maria Cita with the help of AI.

Maria is also a top singer in Brazil. Maria was only five years old when Regina passed away, but the two have been shown singing together with the help of AI. Maria did not even shoot for this commercial. A new video has been made by taking his old show video and mixing it with Regina.

These are just a few examples, but it's clear that in the future, big studios can do anything using AI. An entire film on Alien can be made without actors and a series can be made without writers. It's absolutely possible to make an entire movie or series with the help of five-seven AI experts doing the work of hundreds of people, so everyone will be wasted. Considering that making a commercial does not require many people, those involved in making a commercial will become completely idle.

Economic experts believe that the trailer of what will happen in the future due to AI is being seen in Hollywood. Hollywood artists are wise enough to have recognized this threat long ago and are fighting against it, but it is unlikely to make a difference. A business owner is interested in reducing costs. Costs are falling due to AI, so even if the studio assumes the condition of using AI sparingly so that work does not stop now, there is no guarantee that it will be followed in the future.

Experts are also warning that the same situation as Hollywood is going to happen in other sectors too, so the number of such strikes will increase. Due to this, total activities will be disrupted. To overcome this situation, governments of major countries need to create laws to control the use of AI.

1000 crores loss due to Hollywood strike

The Hollywood strike is also proving to be very costly financially.

It is estimated that there is a daily loss of 10 million dollars due to the strike.

Hollywood is in California and it is believed that there is a daily loss of three million dollars in California alone. Millions of people have been affected by the Hollywood entertainment production that has affected many countries around the world.

Since the Hollywood strike has been going on for more than a hundred days, so far 1000 crores of dollars (about 82 thousand crore rupees) have been hit.

This loss cannot be compensated in any way.

15 years ago there was a strike by writers in Hollywood. This strike lasted for 100 days.

Due to this, 2 billion dollars was hit. As actors are also involved in this strike, the actual figure of loss is likely to be more than 1000 crore dollars.

If the strike goes on for a month, Hollywood will be locked down

The film is completed three to four months before the release, so the release of the films is not stopped due to the Hollywood strike, but if the strike continues for a month or so, the release of the Hollywood films will also be affected. TV serials have stopped now. Most of the channels show shows that don't need a script and are shown live by shooting whatever.

This type of content is gradually decreasing, so if the strike drags on for a month or so, it is believed that Hollywood will be locked out. Since this situation does not happen, the mayor of Los Angeles is trying to end the strike.
