Delhi Talk: Handover to BJP by Supreme Court's verdict on Election Commission


New Delhi: The Supreme Court's historic verdict on the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners as well as the CBI director has left the BJP reeling. The Supreme Court has ordered that a committee of the Leader of the Opposition and the Chief Justice in the Prime Minister's Lok Sabha appoints the country's Chief Election Commissioner and two commissioners. Until now only the Central Government used to select the Chief Election Commissioner and two Commissioners of the country. As per the court order, the final decision will be taken by the President after this committee recommends the names to the President. The Supreme Court has to follow the same selection process in selecting the CBI Director. This process will remain in place until Parliament enacts a law regarding the appointment of Election Commissioners.

The order of the Supreme Court is important. There will be a break on the BJP government appointing retired officers it deems to be its own. If the Modi government wants to maintain its supremacy, a law has to be made quickly regarding the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner in the country.

Sangh Maidan against reservation to Christian-Muslim Dalits

Jagan's Hindu card will build 3000 temples in Andhra

The Jagan Mohan government of Andhra Pradesh has also played the Hindu card and announced to build a temple in every village of the state. A total of 3000 temples will be built in the state.
