Rohatgi rejected Modi's offer

The Modi Government has appointed Senior Advocate R Venkataramani as the new Attorney General of India. Venkataramani will replace KK Venugopal and hold the post of Attorney General for three years from October 1.

The Modi government had asked senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi in the Supreme Court to take over the charge of Attorney General again, but Rohatgi rejected the proposal. The Attorney General is the country's highest law officer and chief legal advisor. Rohatgi has given the pretext of being busy, but sources say that Rohatgi is not happy with the Modi government's stance on constitutional interpretation.

From ESW to CAA, the Modi government took decisions for political gain, but they are of the opinion that these decisions are against the constitution. He declined the offer as he was unwilling to defend these decisions. Rohatgi was not ready to sacrifice himself while defending decisions against the constitution, so eventually Venkarmani got the brunt of it. Rohatgi had previously been the Attorney General for three years.

BJP's strategy of Hindu-Christian axis in Kerala

The BJP is counting on political gains in Kerala due to the backlash against PFI. BJP is preparing to come down by creating a Hindu-Christian axis. As part of this strategy, the issue of love jihad by activists of organizations including PFI will be raised. The BJP wants to take advantage of the growing resentment among the Christian organizations of Kerala against the practices of the activists of the Muslim organizations.

As part of this strategy, JP Nadda recently met Kannaya Catholic Archbishop Mathew Mulakkat and Changanassery Metropolitan Archbishop Mar Joseph Perumthottam. Both are considered Kerala's top Catholic priests and hold strong sway over Christian voters. Both are said to have expressed their readiness to support the BJP against the love jihad being waged by activists of Muslim organizations.

BJP leaders believe that Christians have the same mindset on love jihad issue in Kerala. Some Christian pastors have also alleged that Muslims in the state are waging a narcotics jihad in addition to the love jihad. In these circumstances, if both join hands, it is possible to fight effectively.

Das to cut repo rate despite opposition from Centre

The Reserve Bank of India's monetary review policy meeting has begun amid reports of a clash with the central government. The Reserve Bank will announce the credit policy at the end of the meeting which will last till September 30.

According to sources, the government is pressuring the Reserve Bank not to increase the Repo Rate, but Governor Shaktikanta Das is not in a mood to believe the government. Given that Das has clearly told the finance ministry that there is no other option but to increase the repo rate to keep the country's economy stable, it is clear that the increase in the repo rate will be announced at the monetary review policy meeting. This time the PO rate may increase by half a percent.

Earlier, the Reserve Bank had increased the repo rate by 40 basis points in May, 50 basis points in June and 50 basis points in August. Thus, the repo rate has increased by 1.40 percent since May. Now it will increase again so the conflict with the government will increase.

Displeasure in Congress against MP's statement on Sangh issue

Following the central government's ban on the Popular Front of India, Congress MP Suresh's statement has angered Congressmen themselves. Suresh has demanded that RSS should be banned like PFI as the Sangh also works to spread Hindu communalism across the country. There is no difference in functioning of PFI and Sangh so ban the Sangh also.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has also demanded that the Sangh should also be banned. Lalu said that the Sangh also fully works to spread Hindu communalism so it should also be banned.

Congressmen believe that Suresh's statement has created an impression that Congress is defending terrorist organizations like PFI to appease Muslims. There is a stark difference between Sangh and PFEI's modus operandi, so this kind of talk will further alienate Hindu voters from Congress. Sonia should ban this kind of talk.

Kolkata High Court declared Mamata's project illegal

The Kolkata High Court on Wednesday outlawed the West Bengal government's well-known scheme Ration Your Doorstep. The court held that the government had overstepped its bounds by asking dealers to take rations to people's homes. A bench of Justices Anirudh Roy and Chittaranjan Das said the state government had overstepped its bounds by announcing the scheme to the rationing shopkeepers to deliver foodgrains to the beneficiaries' homes in the absence of any authority.
