More than 150 vehicles and travelers at Dordoe-Korpe in the Oti Region find themselves stranded due to a breakdown of the ferry on the River Oti, causing significant disruption to transportation.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the landing site at Dambai revealed a long queue of vehicles, including saloon cars, buses, trucks, and tankers carrying goods and foodstuff, all waiting to be transported across the River.

Aliu Mumuni, a driver traveling from Accra to Wulensi in the Nanumba North District, expressed frustration after spending over 48 hours at the riverbank. He called on the Ghana Highway Authority to construct a bridge over the River Oti to facilitate smoother movement.

Similarly, Ibrahim Awudu, another driver from Tema heading towards Bimbilla in the Northern Region, urged the Volta Lake Transport Company and the government to collaborate effectively in addressing such challenges.

Commander Victor Oppong Fianko, the Operation Manager of the Volta Lake Transport Limited (VLT), explained to the GNA that the ferry experienced an electronic fault. A team of mechanics has been dispatched from Akosombo to rectify the issue.

Fianko assured that all stranded vehicles would be able to cross the river later in the day, expressing hope that the ferry would resume full operation by the following day.
