SML rejects KPMG audit findings on GRA contract, President endorses discontinuation

Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has strongly contested claims made by KPMG in its recent Audit report regarding its contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), asserting that it fulfilled all obligations stipulated in the Transaction Audit Service Agreement.

In response to KPMG's conclusion that SML only partially met service requirements, SML emphasized its full compliance with the terms that led to the subsequent recommendation and awarding of the downstream petroleum audit contract. It highlighted provisions for monitoring and evaluation services and a value-for-money assessment, which were diligently adhered to by both the GRA and SML.

SML also rejected KPMG's observation regarding External Price Verification Services, stating that ICUMS (Integrated Customs Management System) does not possess the capability for external price verification, and SML's independent assurance Audit Services provide crucial oversight in classification and valuation.

In a separate development, President Akufo-Addo endorsed KPMG's recommendation to discontinue upstream petroleum and minerals audit services previously provided to the GRA by SML.
