Electoral Commission designates 1,068 centres for voter registration exercise nationwide see list for Accra

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the designation of 1,068 centres for the upcoming voter registration exercise across Ghana. Scheduled to commence from May 7 to May 27, 2024, the registration centers include the Commission's 268 district offices, 25 public universities, and 775 difficult-to-access electoral areas nationwide.

Mr. Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the EC, revealed to the Ghana News Agency that these 1,068 centres have been officially gazetted for the registration process.

In the Greater Accra Region, registration will take place in 31 District Offices of the Commission. Specific details for various areas within the region have been provided:

  • Ga South: Block A 11, 33 & 34 GICEL, SCC, New Weija West.
  • Weija Gbawe: Architectural and Engineering Service Limited (AESL) Building, I.T.S Road, opposite Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly.
  • Ga Central: Dan Salo Street, Sowutuom Last Stop.
  • Ga North: National Identification Authority's Office, Amamorley.
  • Ga West: Ga West Municipal Assembly.
  • Ga East: Kwabenya-Atomic MA 5 Basic School Library.
  • La Nkwantanang/Madina: EC's Office, opposite Silver Hair Spa, Madina New Road Market, and Rawlings Circle.
  • Ayawaso East, Ayawaso North, Ayawaso Central, Ayawaso West, and Korley Klottey: Electoral Commission Headquarters premises, Castle Road.
  • Okaikwei South Metro: Near Kaneshie Market and Criples Home, Nii Asere Ayitey Road.
  • Ablekuma South Sub-Metro: Nii Kojo Ababio Cluster of Schools (Korlegonno).
  • Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro: City Engineers Building, near Light House (GPHA) John Evans Atta Mills High Street.
  • Okaikwei North: Achimota District Court.
  • Ablekuma North: Banyard – Odorkor, along the George Walker Bush Highway.
  • Ablekuma Central: Local Government premises, Laterbiokoshie.
  • Ablekuma West: Dansoman, Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly premises.
  • La Dadekotopon: Kaajarno South La Estate, 2nd Kaajarno Street.
  • Ledzokuku: Oak Street, Teshie, near Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly.
  • Krowor: Nungua, Brigade Hill Top, Cactus Street.
  • Tema Metro: Tema Metro Office, Community 4, Near Prisco Park, No. 4 Kokofu Park.
  • Tema West: Old Mexico School Block, Community 2, Tema.
  • Kpong Katamanso: New Police Station Office, Khrida Estates, Kpone Kokompe Junction.
  • Ashaiman: First Floor of the Tema Highway Building, Lebanon Ashaiman, Opposite Lebanon International School and Mosque.
  • Adentan: No. 14 Ayebeng Avenue, Adentan Housing Down.
  • Shai-Osudoku: Dodowa, Education, near Fire Service Office.
  • Ningo Prampram: Adjacent Prampram SHS Gate, New Site through Noble Estate Road.
  • Ada West: Battor Road, Kaiser Street, behind ECG Office.
  • Ada East: Forestry Commission, Luhuese-Ada Foah Road, Luhuese.

Additionally, six public universities in Greater Accra have been designated for voter registration. These include the University of Ghana, Legon; University of Professional Studies, Accra; Ghana Communication Technology University; Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA); UniMAC (GIJ, School of Languages, and NAFTI); and Accra Technical University.

Mr. Tettey emphasized that individuals below 18 years and non-Ghanaians are not eligible to register, cautioning that any attempts by unqualified persons to register would be considered an offence.
