Former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi hospitalized ahead of Ejisu NPP Parliamentary Primary

Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and aspirant in the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Parliamentary Primary for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been hospitalized.

According to a source from his campaign team speaking to Citi News, Nyantakyi experienced stomach pain on Friday night and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The source suggested that Nyantakyi's illness may have been due to not eating throughout the day, as he had a packed schedule leading up to Saturday's polls, including a planned meeting with Delegates.

Nyantakyi has been receiving treatment at the Legacy Hospital in Asokore Mampong since Friday evening.

The parliamentary primary, which is crucial due to the passing of the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, will see 1081 delegates decide among nine aspirants vying for the NPP candidacy.

Despite Nyantakyi's hospitalization, the party is proceeding with the primary election as planned. There has been heightened campaign activity throughout the week, with aspirants engaging delegates to secure their votes.

The NPP is urging strict adherence to election guidelines by both aspirants and delegates and reiterating the call for aspirants not to congregate delegates.

Nana Kofi Owusu, the Ashanti Regional Research and Elections Officer of the NPP, confirmed to Citi News that all preparations have been made for today's elections.
