Ministry of Finance appoints new leadership for Ghana Revenue Authority

To bolster tax mobilization and administration capabilities, the Ministry of Finance has announced key Leadership appointments within the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). These appointments are aimed at providing strong leadership, driving growth, and improving efficiency within the organization.

Julie Essiam, who previously served as Commissioner of Support Services, has been appointed as the new Commissioner-General of the GRA, succeeding Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu Amoah. With her extensive experience in tax administration, Essiam is expected to provide robust leadership and enhance the Authority's effectiveness.

Edward Apenteng Gyamerah, a seasoned tax expert who has been acting as Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, has now been appointed substantively. He will oversee the division, ensuring fair and effective tax compliance, particularly in domestic tax matters.

Pearl Darko, formerly a Deputy Director General at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has been appointed as Commissioner of the Support Services Division, succeeding Julie Essiam. Her administrative expertise will be instrumental in streamlining internal processes within the GRA.

Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, previously the Provost Marshall of the Ghana Armed Forces, has been appointed as Commissioner of the Customs Division. His background in security is expected to bolster customs operations, particularly in combating smuggling and improving overall efficiency.

These appointments, communicated via an official statement from the Ministry of Finance's Public Relations Unit, aim to strengthen the GRA and ensure the attainment of revenue targets while upholding professionalism, fairness, and exemplary client care.

The Ministry of Finance also expressed gratitude to the outgoing leadership of the GRA for their dedication and service to the nation, emphasizing their role in the continuous growth of tax revenue in Ghana.
