Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, has affirmed that Ghana's international reputation remains unaffected despite the passage of the Anti-Gay Bill. Although the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill received parliamentary approval in February, it awaits presidential assent.

In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong stressed that the international community respects Ghana's sovereign decision-making process. He noted that while there may be discussions on LGBTQ+ matters during engagements with European and American counterparts, Ghana's stance on the issue does not significantly impact its international image.

Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong refuted the notion that the bill seeks to infringe on the human rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, stating that it is primarily aimed at upholding Ghanaian Cultural values. He emphasized Ghana's right to maintain its cultural integrity despite differing global perspectives.

He concluded by asserting that Ghana's stance on LGBTQ+ issues is rooted in its cultural and traditional values, which should be respected similarly to how other countries uphold their own cultural norms and values.
