Ghana Immigration Service apprehends Ivorian murder suspect

The Elubo Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has successfully apprehended an Ivorian murder suspect, Nduoba Essoi Fulgence, aged 32, in Edwakpole, a village near Anyinase in the Ellembele District of the Western Region.

According to a statement issued by Inspector Moses Manford Akakpo, Western Regional Public Affairs Officer for GIS, Fulgence is accused of murdering his girlfriend in Ivory Coast before fleeing to Ghana. Acting on intelligence received from the Ivorian Police Commissaire in Noe, the Ivorian side of the Elubo Border, the Elubo Sector Command initiated efforts to arrest the fugitive.

A surveillance team comprising Immigration Officers from the Elubo Sector Command, led by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Joshua Krakue, conducted preliminary investigations. Their inquiries indicated that the suspect might be hiding with relatives in Edwakpole village, approximately 50 kilometres from Elubo.

On Tuesday, April 2, at around 1330 hours, a search party was dispatched to apprehend the suspect from his hideout. After a meticulous operation lasting about two hours, Fulgence was located and arrested in a house suspected to be his family residence in Edwakpole village.

Subsequently, Fulgence was handed over to the Ivorian Police Commissaries in Noe for further action.

The GIS expressed its gratitude to all individuals and agencies who collaborated in the successful apprehension of the suspect.
