Independent presidential candidate Kwame Bediako has unveiled plans to tap into the potential of the Volta Lake to develop the nation's water transport infrastructure, as part of his vision for industrial and economic growth.

Bediako, the leader of the New Force Movement and a successful young entrepreneur, emphasized the strategic importance of the Volta Lake in building a nationwide inland water transport network. He asserted that if elected, he would prioritize the development of water transportation infrastructure, aiming to connect rivers and create new cities along their banks.

During his “Listening Tour” of the Volta Region, Bediako engaged with local chiefs, students, and youth groups to garner support for his vision. He highlighted the significance of water transportation in revitalizing the nation's infrastructure and fostering industrial development.

In discussions with Chiefs of Asogli, Bediako expressed his commitment to harnessing the potential of the Volta Lake, citing it as a crucial aspect of his plan for water transportation and industrial growth. He also addressed the possibility of dredging the sea to connect Kumasi, Ghana's second most populous city, to the coast.

Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII, Warlord of Asogli, voiced support for Bediako's proposals, expressing confidence in his ability to implement ambitious projects like dredging the river to Kumasi. He commended Bediako's youth activism and encouraged his leadership aspirations, noting the need for a third force in Ghanaian politics.

As part of his visit to the Volta Region, Bediako also toured industrial enclaves and engaged with local communities, emphasizing his vision to industrialize the country. Additionally, he demonstrated his commitment to education by donating GH¢ 10,000 to the Asogli Education Fund.
