Vice President joins mourners to observe one-week rites for Dr John Kuma

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, along with several dignitaries including Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, and government officials, joined mourners in Onwe, Ejisu Municipality, Ashanti Region, to observe the one-week Funeral Rites of the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu, Dr. John Ampontua Kuma.

Dr. Bawumia, who is also the Flag-bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 general election, arrived at the mourning grounds to a warm reception from mourners, consisting of family members, sympathizers, friends, and NPP supporters. The event was attended by members of the clergy, the Muslim community, Christians, market women, youth groups, and students who had been supported by the late MP.

The atmosphere at the funeral rites almost resembled a party rally, with enthusiastic party supporters singing and dancing to music in support of Dr. Bawumia and other party leaders.

Dr. Kuma, a former Deputy Minister of Finance, passed away on March 7, and his burial is scheduled for May 18, 2024, at Onwe in the Ejisu Municipality. He was remembered as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and preacher, and leaves behind his widow, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, and six children.
