Pastor Mensa Otabil, the Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has asserted that Christianity's focal point has shifted from Europe and America to Africa. Speaking at the Desert Pastures of the Fountain Gate Chapel (FGC) in Bolgatanga during a week-long annual conference dubbed “Bethesda,” Pastor Otabil emphasized Africa's significance in the future of Christianity.

According to Pastor Otabil, Africa is now considered the hope of Christianity and a place of refuge for the faith. He emphasized the need for the Church in Africa to be cleansed and properly practiced to reflect its true meaning and serve as a good custodian of the mysteries of Christ for future generations.

Pastor Otabil highlighted the transformative power of Christianity, citing its historical impact on regions such as Asia Minor, Europe, and the United States. He noted that while Christianity had brought positive changes to these regions, many European countries had turned away from the faith, with Christianity appearing dormant in some areas.

Identifying societal barriers within the African Church, Pastor Otabil cautioned against allowing cultural influences to undermine the true essence of Christianity. He criticized hierarchical structures that concentrated power at the top and suppressed individual empowerment, urging Africans to align their practices with Christ's teachings.

Pastor Otabil led the congregation in prayers for a Christ-centered Church in Africa, warning that failure to adhere to Christ's vision for the Church could lead to unfavourable outcomes, akin to Israel's fate of great promise followed by captivity.
