AngloGold Ashanti engineers honoured as esteemed Fellows by Ghana Institution of Engineering

During a ceremony held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on March 22, 2024, the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) bestowed the esteemed Fellow status upon five engineers from AngloGold Ashanti. The event, marking the Institution's 54th annual excellence awards, celebrated the remarkable contributions of these engineers to the field of engineering in Ghana.

Hailing from the Obuasi and Iduapriem Mines of AngloGold Ashanti, the honorees were recognized for their outstanding achievements and dedication to advancing engineering practice in the country. Among the distinguished individuals honoured is Eric Broni, FGhIE, Senior Manager of Engineering at Obuasi Mine, noted for his visionary leadership and innovative solutions that have left a lasting mark on the engineering landscape.

Kisman Ackon Eghan, FGhIE, Principal Electrical Engineer – Africa Region, was lauded as a trailblazer in sustainable infrastructure development and energy management, driving positive change across the nation. Winfred Aniagyei, FGhIE, Project Engineer at Obuasi Mine, was acknowledged for his advocacy for safety and efficiency, ensuring that engineering practices align with global standards.

Isaac Boakye Aduenin, FGhIE, Senior Manager – Engineering at Iduapriem (Tarkwa) Mine, was celebrated for his mastery of precision and excellence, which has elevated engineering standards in the mining industry. Augustine Appiah Boachie, FGhIE, Chief Geologist – Core Management, Geology, was commended as a mentor and inspiration to young engineers, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing in geological engineering.

The elevation of these individuals from Senior Professional Engineers to Fellows signifies their unwavering commitment, technical expertise, and transformative impact on the engineering profession. Their contributions have not only advanced engineering practice but also enriched the nation's infrastructure and development.

In his address, Mr. Kwabena Bempong, President of GhIE, emphasized the significance of the honour, stating that these individuals have exemplified the ideals of a Fellow by making significant contributions to the engineering profession. Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of engineers to strive for excellence and innovation in their field.
