Hope for Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to providing prospects and opportunities for the children of Ghana, has commissioned an ultra-modern School building for Klokpe MA Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region.

The 11-classroom building, spanning primary and Junior High levels, boasts ancillary facilities including a solar power system, library, computer lab, water borehole with a purification machine, staff room, and washroom facilities for both boys and girls.

At a vibrant commissioning ceremony, Dr Steve Greene, Founder and President of Hope for Ghana, and Master Senyo Success Gbormittah, Vice President in charge of operations, revealed that the project marked their largest endeavour to date. They disclosed that the school-building project was funded entirely by foreign donors and marked the addition of the fourth school within the Municipality.

Named ‘Maureen's School of Hope' after Maureen Ellis, a dedicated teacher and education advocate with over 30 years of service, the newly commissioned school aims to uplift educational standards in the region.

Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, President of the Avenor Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Area, commended the donors for their contributions towards the community's development. He urged residents to maintain the school infrastructure and promote environmental sustainability by planting more trees around the premises.

Mr Martin Kofitsey Nyahe, Municipal Chief Executive for the area, conveyed the government's gratitude to the donors, emphasizing the state's commitment to ensuring universal access to education for all Ghanaian children.

In addition to education initiatives, Hope for Ghana also focuses on health, youth empowerment, and other development areas. Over 13 years of operation in the Volta Region, the NGO has implemented various projects in communities such as Kpando, Keta, Anloga, Tegbi, and Abor, including the provision of computer laboratories, book libraries, and mechanized boreholes.

Looking ahead, Hope for Ghana plans to continue its work with foreign donors to execute more projects across the country. Their upcoming initiatives include the completion and commissioning of a modern Library and ICT lab for Wlitey RC school in July, as well as classroom projects in two communities within the Northern Region by the same period.

The USD 200,000 project has been officially handed over to Mr Karim Umar Ayaana, the Director of Education for Akatsi South, and was witnessed by traditional authorities, educational staff, local government representatives, community elders, and residents.
