Okudzeto Ablakwa acknowledged as 2023 SOS Humanitarian of the Year

North Tongu Member of Parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa, has been honoured with the prestigious title of 2023 SOS Humanitarian of the Year. Hon. Ablakwa was invited as a guest speaker at the Supplies Over Seas (SOS) Annual Fundraising Breakfast held in Louisville, Kentucky, in the United States.

During his address, Hon. Ablakwa expressed gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the impactful partnership between SOS and the North Tongu MP's Office. He specifically mentioned the establishment of the John Evans Atta Mills Surgical Block and the provision of additional medical equipment and medicines following the catastrophic spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams.

Hon. Ablakwa also shed light on new collaborations aimed at fully equipping a recently constructed hospital in Mepe, along with other economic development initiatives geared towards empowering the youth in his constituency.

The MP shared compelling data showcasing the positive outcomes of the Surgical Block initiative, including a 24% reduction in maternal mortality and a 57% increase in life-saving surgeries as a result of surgical outreaches at the facility.

In his speech, Hon. Ablakwa emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in promoting global health and fostering a fair and just world.

Expressing his appreciation, Hon. Ablakwa extended gratitude to SOS CEO, Denise Sears, and her team for their invaluable support and collaboration.
