Ghana Black Satellites beat Uganda to clinch gold in 2023 African Games men’s football tournament

Ghana secured victory in the 2023 African Games Men's Football tournament by edging past Uganda with a solitary goal in a thrilling showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium. The match, witnessed by a capacity crowd, saw Jerry Afriyie emerge as the hero for the Black Satellites with his decisive strike.

Under the astute guidance of Coach Desmond Offei, the Ghanaian team displayed unwavering determination from the onset, setting their sights firmly on the gold medal. Despite an evenly contested first half, characterized by intense exchanges from both sides, the scoreboard remained untouched.

The second half saw Ghana intensify their attacking endeavours, coming agonizingly close to breaking the deadlock on numerous occasions. With the match hanging in the balance, it was Jerry Afriyie, representing Thoughts FC, who rose to the occasion, unleashing a spectacular strike in the 90th minute to seal victory for the Black Satellites.

The final whistle signalled jubilant celebrations as Ghana was crowned champions, claiming the coveted Gold Medals. Meanwhile, Uganda's valiant efforts throughout the tournament earned them the Silver Medals, a testament to their commendable performance on the field.

Earlier in the day, Senegal secured the Bronze medals by overcoming Congo, adding to the array of achievements in African football.
