The Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has recognized and awarded several healthcare facilities and staff for their exceptional contributions to healthcare provision in the region.
The awards, presented to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the recipients, focused on their commitment to providing comprehensive and accessible health services, particularly in primary healthcare, in line with Ministry of Health policies.
Among the awarded facilities were Half-Assini Hospital, recognized as the Best Performing Facility in Peer Review, and Wassa Amenfi East District Hospital. Axim Hospital received the accolade for Best Performing Facilities in Ghana Integrated Logistics Management Information System (GhILMS) Utilization. Additionally, Wassa Amenfi Central District Hospital and Agona-Nkwanta Polyclinic were both honoured as the Best Performing Facilities in debt Servicing.
In addition to facility awards, three staff members received the Regional Director's Special Awards: Madam Joyce Nketsiah, Madam Matilda Arhin, and Mr Emmanuel Amoako, for their exceptional contributions. They were presented with citations and digital television sets in recognition of their service.
Several district health directorates were also recognized for their outstanding performance in various healthcare programs, including CHPS Implementation, Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI), Reproductive and Child Health Services, Tuberculosis Programme, and Nutrition Services.
Dr. Yaw Ofori Yeboah, the Western Regional Director of the GHS, commended the awardees for their sacrifices, innovation, and resilience in improving healthcare services in the region. He emphasized the pivotal role they played in making the Western Region a healthier place to live and urged them to remain devoted to their core mandates.
Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, the Director-General of the GHS, congratulated the award winners and acknowledged their unwavering efforts in delivering healthcare services despite challenges. He expressed admiration for their dedication and commitment to their work, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to achieving Universal Health Coverage.
