Volta Municipal, District Chief Executives schooled on ECG powerApp

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has organized a training program for all Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Volta Region to familiarize them with the Ecg Powerapp and the ongoing revenue mobilization exercise called ‘Operation Zero'.

The training, held during the Volta Regional Coordinating Council's first sessional meeting in Ho, was attended by the Volta Regional Minister, regional heads of departments, representatives from the House of Chiefs, security agencies, and staff of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council.

During the gathering, the General Manager of ECG in the Volta Region, Ms Jatoe-Kaleo, highlighted the updates on the ECG PowerApp, including features like customer statements, viewing bills, and payment history. Smart prepaid meters in the region can now view their consumption history as well.

Ms Jatoe-Kaleo encouraged customers to use the ECG PowerApp or the shortcode *226# for transactions, as it does not attract mobile money charges or e-levy. She urged all customers to download or update the ECG PowerApp from Google Playstore or AppStore to pay their bills or purchase prepaid credit.

The ECG General Manager explained the process of using the app for postpaid and smart prepaid customers. She emphasized the benefits of the ECG PowerApp, such as allowing customers to transact with ECG anytime and anywhere, providing real-time updates on payments, and enabling customers to report faults.

Ms Jatoe-Kaleo assured customers that if a transaction fails but their mobile money account is debited, the system will automatically refund the money to their PowerApp wallet.

The ECG General Manager also informed the gathering about the ‘Operation Zero' revenue mobilization exercise, which started on July 11 and is expected to last for two months. The operation aims to ensure all electricity consumers settle their arrears to sustain the electricity supply chain.

She appealed to the public to assist the company by reporting individuals consuming power without paying. Additionally, she urged customers with faulty or illegally obtained meters to take advantage of the moratorium and visit ECG offices to regularize their electricity supply in the system.

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Archibald Letsa, emphasized the significance of electricity for the country's socio-economic growth and called on the public to promptly pay their electricity bills to support ECG.
