NPP Flagbearership Race: Be measured in your utterances – Justin Kodua Frimpong urges aspirants

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is advising all ten flagbearer aspirants to exercise caution and maintain decorum in their campaign activities.

Frimpong emphasizes the party's overarching goal of “Breaking the 8” and highlights the importance of conducting campaigns that reflect unity and promote easy reconciliation after the internal elections.

He states, “My word of advice to all of them and their supporters is that they should be measured in their utterances and have the party's interest first at heart before any other interest comes in.”

Frimpong further stresses the responsibility of the National party to ensure that the election processes are free, fair, transparent, and peaceful.

His remarks come after the vetting committee released its report, which cleared all ten aspirants to participate in the flagbearer elections.

The report, submitted to the National Council through the General Secretary on July 10, 2023, recommends the eligibility of all ten aspirants, pending the approval of the National Council.

The aspirants, namely Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, await the decision of the National Council, which is scheduled to deliberate on the recommendations on July 20, 2023.

Should there be no objections from the National Council, the party will proceed with a Super Delegates Congress to narrow down the number of candidates to five for the main national congress, where the flagbearer will be elected.
