KNUST student recovering after suicide attempt: University management provides support

A second-year medical science Student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who recently made a suicide attempt, is now in stable condition and is receiving necessary treatment and support, as confirmed by the university's management.

The alarming incident unfolded on Tuesday night when the student tried to jump from the fifth-floor balcony of the Brunei hostel.

Thankfully, fellow students intervened and prevented the tragedy, swiftly pulling him back to safety before rushing him to the hospital.

Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, the Public Relations Officer of KNUST, stressed the importance of seeking timely assistance from counselors and strongly discouraged students from resorting to such drastic measures.

“As of now, he is stable, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of his attempted suicide and the appropriate support systems that we can provide him,” stated Dr. Bekoe.

In order to protect the privacy and well-being of the student, the university has appealed to media outlets to refrain from disclosing his image and name to the public.

The university administration is taking steps to reach out to these media houses, urging them to remove any personal details that could potentially worsen the student's situation.
