An Accra High Court has ruled that renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas must remove his mask and testify openly in chambers during the criminal charges against former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Anas, who has been known for his masked appearances, will now be required to reveal his identity before providing testimony.

This decision comes after the Supreme Court overturned a previous ruling by a lower court that granted Anas permission to testify in camera.

Anas, who has faced threats to his life, has been hesitant to appear in court without his mask due to safety concerns.

The High Court's order, issued by High Court 2, Criminal Division, allows Anas Aremeyaw Anas to testify in the case against Kwesi Nyantakyi while being unmasked.

In June 2018, Anas conducted an undercover investigation that captured footage of Nyantakyi accepting $65,000 in cash from an undercover reporter. The investigative documentary was aired by BBC Africa's investigations unit, Africa Eye.

The footage showed Nyantakyi accepting the money and placing it in a black plastic bag, unaware that he was being recorded by the undercover reporter posing as a potential investor in Ghanaian football.

Later, Nyantakyi agreed to what he believed was a sponsorship deal for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), which he had been leading since 2005.

However, the deal was fabricated by the reporters and would have allowed him to receive millions of dollars in commission through a company under his control.

As a result of the investigation, Nyantakyi lost his position as a FIFA Council Member and 1st Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
