Family Health University College commended for training healthcare professionals

Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, has praised the Founders of Family Health University College (FHUC) for their decade-long provision of healthcare education.

Speaking as a Special Guest of Honour at the Matriculation and Graduation ceremony for the Medical School and the School of Nursing and Midwifery, he emphasized the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Professor Aryeetey challenged the graduands to think about how they would use their acquired knowledge and skills to positively impact society.

The Family Health Medical School matriculated 56 fresh men and women, while 27 members of the Class of 2025 graduated with a BSc in Medical Sciences.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery, on the other hand, matriculated 329 fresh men and women, comprising 258 for the BSc Nursing and Midwifery programme and 71 for the Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) programme.

FHUC graduated its maiden class of 27 BSc Nursing and BSc Midwifery students and 55 Nurse Assistant Clinical students during the ceremony.

FHUC's School of Nursing and Midwifery is accredited by the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Meanwhile, the Medical School recently gained approval from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), making its students and graduates eligible to apply for ECFMG Certification in the USA and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).

Professor Aryeetey stressed the importance of education as an empowering force that breaks down barriers to opportunities. He encouraged the graduands to use their sound education and skills to render quality service to their patients and to humanity as a whole, regardless of where they may be assigned to work.

The President and Founder of FHUC, Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, assured parents and guardians that their children and wards were receiving top-quality healthcare education.

He noted that the Institution's comprehensive educational curriculum, experienced and competent faculty and administrators, and well-endowed Hospital facility gave FHUC students an edge over other private training institutions.

Professor Kwawukume welcomed the matriculants and advised them to take good care of themselves and maintain healthy routines.

He also reminded them of FHUC's relaxation facilities, which could help them to relax and rejuvenate. He charged the graduands to use the knowledge and skills acquired to make a positive change wherever they found themselves and to take leadership roles, adding that graduation did not signify an end to learning and that they should continue to upgrade themselves.
