2023 All Stars Football Festival launched in Sunyani

The Business Africa Consulting (BAC) Group and the Bono-Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA) have jointly launched the second All Stars Football Festival in Sunyani, calling on the media to highlight the contributions of the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions to football development in the country.

According to Mr Ralph Gyambrah, the BARFA Chairman, the three regions have produced more football stars, administrators, and investors than any other region in the country. He urged the media to positively report about past and present footballers from the regions.

Mr Gyambrah noted that the Bono Region had produced the most senior national football team, the Black Stars captains, including two of the top scorers in the history of Ghana football, Kwasi Owusu of blessed memory and Asamoah-Gyan, and Akwasi Appiah.

He called on the government and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider the region by constructing a standard sports stadium and a standard football academy to recognize their contribution to the development of Ghana's football.

Dr Ernest Koranteng, the CEO of the BAC Group, explained that this year's edition of the festival is being held in the Bono-Ahafo to celebrate the contributions of the regions to Ghana football over the years.

He mentioned legends such as the late Kwasi Owusu, Akwasi Appiah, and Asamoah-Gyan, Dan Owusu, three consecutive times Ghana's Premier Division goal king in the 1970s, and Alex Opoku, who led Ghana's Black Starlets '91 to win the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Italy.

The festival will include a series of events such as an all-star festival float in the Ahafo Region, a gala night in Sunyani on June 21st in honour of the football legends, a durbar in honour of the Black Stars at Dormaa-Ahenkro by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, a media launch, conferences on club football businesses, a special curtain-raiser football match at the Coronation Park in Sunyani, and an all-star football match to climax the festival at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

A ten-member local organizing committee (LOC) was officially inaugurated by Mr Frank Nelson, a Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club.

The committee, led by Mr Ransford Antwi, the CEO of Suncity Radio in Sunyani, pledged to work effectively in collaboration with other stakeholders for the success of the festival.

Mr Antwi called on residents to put aside their differences and work together for the holistic development of the regions and the nation.
