Hold Akufo-Addo, National Security responsible if Ablakwa is harmed: Ras Mubarak claims

Former Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak, has issued a warning to the government of Ghana, calling on the President and National Security to be held responsible in the event of any harm to North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

According to Ras Mubarak, national security operatives have been assigned to monitor Mr Ablakwa, and if anything happens to the legislator, the President, the National Security Minister and IGP should be held personally accountable.

Ras Mubarak’s comments come after the recent serving of a restraining order on North Tongu MP by the court. The order sought to prevent Mr Ablakwa from making any further publications about the Secretary of the National Cathedral Board, Reverend Victor Kusi-Boateng.

However, in a video that went viral on social media, the MP was seen kicking away the order that was served on him by a court official.

In response to the restraining order, the Minority in Parliament has condemned what it describes as the “naked and shameful abuse of the judiciary by certain undemocratic elements seeking to gag NDC Members of Parliament”.

The Minority has accused the government of trying to stifle parliamentary scrutiny and pervert the course of justice, citing the recent attempt to serve a restraining order on Mr Ablakwa.

In a statement, the Minority said, “The instant preposterous and cowardly legal action against our respected colleague, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa by President Akufo-Addo’s appointee to the Board of Trustees of the scandal-ridden National Cathedral of Ghana is nothing but a desperate effort to stifle parliamentary scrutiny and pervert the course of justice”.

The Minority also condemned the crude disregard for the appropriate procedure of serving court documents to Members of Parliament through the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament.

The Minority Group in Parliament pledged its support for Mr Ablakwa in his investigations about Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, stating that they will not be intimidated by judicial abuse and fascist tactics.

The Minority also expressed full confidence in the parliamentary oversight qualities of Mr Ablakwa, saying that they are determined to pursue all aspects of the National Cathedral project and related matters of conflict of interest, dual identity, diversions, procurement breaches and corruption during this 3rd Session of the 8th Parliament.

In conclusion, the Minority Group in Parliament stated that they will not disappoint God and the people of Ghana in their mission to uncover the truth about the scandal-plagued National Cathedral project.
