1. Lal Mahal

Lal Mahal is one of the most renowned tourist places in Pune. This palace was built by Shivaji’s father Shivaji Bhosale in 1630. This palace was built to give his son and wife. The king’s family lived in this place until his first Fort was captured. The original fort was demolished several times and it was built currently in the middle of the city. It was built in the location where Shivaji married Maharani Sai Baba. However, the newly built Lal Mahal does not have exact features like the old one.

2. Shaniwar Wada

Shaniwar Wada is another popular tourist destination in Maharashtra. This was built by Peshwa Bajirao as his home. The Fort has beautiful architecture and the Majestic that you of Bajirao 1 at the entrance welcome the visitor to enter.

It was told that the fight was haunted by the spirit of a Peshwa king Narayanrao on the full moonlight night after he was killed by his aunt and uncle in this palace. The monument is famous for the romantic couple Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani.

3. Shivneri Fort

This fort was given to Shivaji’s grandfather Malojirao Bhosale in 1599. Shahajigive birth to his daughter in this fort itself. The castle is triangular and built on a hill and is well-kept now. The castle’s design and architecture is the major attraction to tourists.

The name of king Shivaji was kept after the god Shiva was present in the temple inside the fort.

There is a lake within that fort as well. Adventurers and tourists from all around the world come to visit this grandeur fort in Pune. 

4. Sinhagarh Fort

Sinhagad fort is located on the clifftop from where the beautiful Sahyadri is visible. Later it was renamed Sinhagarh, which means ‘Lion’s Fort’ in the regional language. This fort has a history of 2000 years named Kondhan, after the wise Kaundinya. Before Shivaji revolted against Adilshahi, the fort was formerly known as Kondhana and was owned by ruler Mohammad bin Tughlaq. Shivaji defeated Adilshahi and took the fort in the year 1647.

5. Aga Khan Palace

The Aga Khan Palace is another beautiful historical place to visit in Pune. The palace was built-in 1892 by Sultan Mohammed Shah Aga Khan III. Aga Khan Palace is one of the most important landmarks in Indian history and was a crucial element of India’s independence at many defining times. Aga Khan Palace is visited by many tourists to witness its historical significance and its architectural excellence.
