Apart from the Bhongir fort, the town is famous for its Beetle Leaves, Pottery, and textiles.

The history of the Bhongir fort dates back to the 10th Century. Bhongir Fort was built by the Western Chalukya ruler named Tri-bhuvana-malla Vikramaditya VI in the 10th century. The fort was built on a single rocky hill in Bhongir with a single monolithic rock and was named Tribhuvanagiri. The fort was built on awe-inspiring rock, stone boundary wall steps through the granite archways, and crumbling stucco ruins.

Bhuvanagiri is an isolated monolithic rock that has a uniquely egg-shaped hump. The fort is protected with two-entry points by huge rocks. The unique egg-shaped construction with heavy rocks covered the two entry points. It was the place where soldiers were always ready to attack when the enemy invades.

The fort has a huge underground chamber, an armory, stables, trap doors, etc. All these historic items can be viewed even today that capture the visitor’s attention. The steps to reach from the bottom to the top of the hill are not damaged even after all these years. One can have a thrilling experience by climbing the hill as one can experience the excellent view of the surrounding areas from the top of the hill.

Bhongir Fort was invaded by many kings over the years. But, in the 15th century with the help of gunpowder and cannons, it was finally conquered by the Bahmani Sultans. Bahmani Sultans modified the Bhongir fort into Islamic style and were hosted by the local governor and made a prison for Qutub Shahi throne pretenders.
