A majestic new Hindu Temple in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Village has been inaugurated, with a powerful message of tolerance, peace, and harmony. The temple, which is located in the emirate’s “worship village,” officially opened its doors to worshippers from all over the UAE today. The official opening ceremony was marked by a powerful message of tolerance, peace, and harmony that brought together people of various faiths, according to the Khaleej Times newspaper. As people entered, priests chanted “Om shanti shanti Om” in a peace salutation, and musicians playing tabla and dhol (Indian drums) greeted them.

Jebel Ali’s ‘worship village’ now has nine religious shrines, including seven churches, the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Gurudwara, and a new Hindu house of worship.

In the main prayer hall, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was planned.

Sheikh Nahyan was joined by Ambassador Sudhir, Dr Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of the Community Development Authority’s (CDA) social regulatory and licencing agency, and Raju Shroff, trustee of the Hindu Temple Dubai.

The Community Development Authority’s director-general, Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, was also present.

Over 200 dignitaries attended the glittering opening ceremony, including heads of diplomatic missions, religious leaders of various faiths, business owners, and Indian community members.

“It is heartening news for the Indian community that a new Hindu temple is being inaugurated in Dubai today,” Ambassador Sudhir said. The opening of the temple addresses the religious aspirations of the UAE’s large Hindu community.

The 70,000-square-foot house of worship was announced in 2020, shortly after Dubai was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The temple blends Indian and Arabic architecture with detailed hand carvings, ornate pillars, brass spires, and striking lattice screens.

To visit the temple, devotees must pre-register online.

By the end of the year, there will be a large community centre where Hindu ceremonies, rituals, and prayers, including weddings, can take place.
