TADA court rejects bail pleas of JKLF, Hurriyat workers in terrorism case

SRINAGAR: A special anti-terrorism court in Srinagar has rejected the bail plea of around a dozen of Hurriyat and JKLF activists facing stringent UAPA charges.

The separatists were booked following a raid at a hotel by Srinagar Police in July this year under sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and section 121-A of IPC at Kothibagh police station in the city.

According to a senior police official, special TADA court has rejected the bail application of 10 activists of JKLF and Hurriyat including Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, Mohammad Rafiq Pahloo, Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, and Shams ud din Rehmani of Srinagar, Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat and Shabir Ahmad of Baramulla.

Other accused include Sajad Hussain Gul, Firdous Ahmad Shah, and Parray Hassan Firdous (Kashmir Resolution Movement) of Srinagar, and Sohail Ahmad Mir of Budgam district.

In a statement, the police said the meeting at the Srinagar hotel was an “attempt to start working for revival of dying secessionist organisations”.

“Investigations have also revealed that they were in touch with entities based abroad, few of them were members of many groups that propagate secessionism like Kashmir Global Council headed by Farooq Siddiqui and Raja Muzaffer of JKLF,” said a senior police official.
