Texas Constitution Day – Today In Southern History

The newly annexed state of Texas ratified it’s first state constitution.

  • 1792 – The cornerstone of the Executive Mansion was laid in Washington, DC, becoming known as the White House in 1818.
  • 1885 – The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) was founded in Atlanta, United States.
  • 1951 – A football with a rubber covering was used for the first time when Georgia Tech beat Louisiana State 25-7 in Atlanta.
  • 1995 – Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida admitted its 500-millionth guest.
