Earthen Legacies: The Artisans of Adilabad

“Our family has preserved the art of crafting special clay Ranjans in Adilabad for generations. Each year, from January to March, we blend red and black soil with manure and sand to craft these Ranjans. Adilabad’s Ranjans hold a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

These Ranjans provide a cooling effect to water, earning them the nickname ‘Poor Man’s Fridge.’ People from different regions travel to Adilabad seeking these timeless treasures, cherishing them as symbols of our rich heritage.

Despite the decreasing numbers of craftsmen and the lack of governmental support, we remain hopeful to this timeless craft. We continue to mold Ranjans, not just as pots, but as carriers of our cultural legacy, hoping that our tradition will endure for generations to come.”
