“Dreams aren’t just what we see in sleep; they’re the force that keeps us awake at night,” as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam once wisely put it. “His vision for a better India, led by the youth, has been haunting my thoughts. Interestingly, my journey into embracing Kalam sir’s ideals began with a peculiar dream of his presence. 

I delved into Kalam sir’s works, captivated by his principles for the last 10 years. I realized that initiating change must begin within, and his philosophy resonated deeply with me. He always emphasized the importance of young individuals propelling the nation forward through their actions, regardless of winning elections. His words echoed in my mind, affirming my potential to make a difference and help those in need, igniting a desire for change within me. Intrigued, I journeyed to Rameshwaram, exploring his roots and absorbing his teachings.

My devotion to Kalam sir’s principles grew, leading me to change my name from Vijay Raj to Vijay Kalam. In my district (Khammam), some considered this move foolish and laughed off my dream. Yet, I remained undeterred, founding Kalamaism and establishing the organization “Vibrants of Kalam sir” in June 2016. Our mission was clear—to promote his values of patriotism, humanity, and kindness. I faced challenges attempting to secure appointments with authorities for our cause, but I persisted. Over time, volunteers joined our cause, and I began donning a military uniform daily in homage to the soldiers. As a tribute to Kalam sir, we presented the world’s largest national flag, a sprawling 20,200 sqft display at Jantar Mantar.  Every aspect of Kalam sir’s philosophy, from discipline to guiding today’s youth, struck a chord within me. Now, with over 2,500 active volunteers, we’ve dedicated ourselves to aiding the needy and empowering youth. From providing ambulance services to conducting motivational sessions for youngsters, we strive to embody Kalam sir’s vision.

Since embracing Kalamism, I’ve devoted my life to his beliefs and aspirations. I won’t rest until his dream of a better nation is realized.”
