Hyderabad Rally Criticizes Israel’s Actions in Palestine

On Monday, a large public rally in Hyderabad expressed strong criticism of Israel’s behavior toward Palestine. Leaders from several political and religious organizations addressed the gathering in Darussalam, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) headquarters.

The conference was presided over by AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owasi, who overwhelmingly passed a resolution condemning Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Resolution emphasized India’s long history of support for Palestine, including its recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the only and legal representation of the Palestinian people in 1974. India was one of the first countries to recognize the state of Palestine in 1988.

The resolution urged India’s government to continue its support for the Palestinian people. It quoted Mahatma Gandhi, who said, “Palestine belongs to the Palestinians, just as England belongs to the English and France belongs to the French.” The resolution urged India to stand in solidarity with people fighting apartheid and colonialism, as it has done in the past in South Africa, Indonesia, and Palestine.

The gathering reaffirmed its unflinching support for the Palestinians’ decades-long struggle to end the occupation of their homeland and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its acts, which are considered crimes against humanity. It requested that Israel follow international law and UN resolutions, as well as the 1992-93 Oslo Accords.

The resolution further stressed the importance of Israel ending its occupation of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and other areas occupied since 1967, opening the way for the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state.

Telangana’s key officials addressed the public gathering, including Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, religious scholar Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, and representatives from several Muslim groups.
