The Telangana High Court has directed the state government to submit precise information on the number of criminal charges brought against Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy.
The state’s Principal Secretary and the Director-General of Police (DGP) were directed by Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy to provide the necessary information. The judge underlined Revanth Reddy’s entitlement to this information as a representative of the people and an opposition leader.
The court was considering a petition brought by Revanth Reddy, who claimed that the police department had not regarded his October 3, 2023 submission. at his representation, he requested information about the criminal cases filed against him at numerous police stations around the state, saying that this violated Article 14 of the Constitution.

According to Revanth Reddy’s appeal, as TPCC president, he spoke out against the governing party’s purported anti-people practices. He said that in reaction, the ruling party had brought multiple fake charges against him.
Tera Rajanikanth Reddy, Revanth Reddy’s attorney, revealed during the hearings that previous two years, roughly 20 charges against his client had gone to trial, and he had been acquitted in all of them by the Special Court for MLAs and MPs at Nampally.
Following the hearing, Justice Bhaskar Reddy issued notifications to the authorities and remanded the case until October 17. The judge ruled that the police could not refuse to release information in response to a public representative’s representation.
