CEC Launches Voter Awareness Cycling Event in Hyderabad

As part of a voter awareness initiative, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar launched a cycling event-cum-walkathon at Durgam Cheruvu in Hyderabad. Hundreds of eager riders attended the event, which was co-organized by Hyderabad Cycling Revolution.

The voter awareness campaign, which involves a seven-day bike excursion throughout Telangana, will run till October 10. The major goal of the campaign is to educate and engage people in the importance of voting and active engagement in the democratic process.

Cyclists will travel through numerous cities during this awareness campaign, including Jangaon, Warangal, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Kamareddy.

Following the cycling event, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar presided over a review meeting attended by all district collectors, superintendents, police commissioners, and top officials. During this conference, district collectors are required to provide presentations on their poll readiness.

The CEC team will meet with state icons, differently-abled people, and young voters on Thursday to raise awareness and urge active engagement in the democratic process.

Following that, the group will meet with Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and Director-General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar to discuss additional election preparation steps.

On the final day of their stay, they will have a news conference.

On Tuesday, a 17-member committee led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar came in Hyderabad to review Telangana’s election readiness. During its three-day tour, the Central Election Commission (CEC) met with political parties, including the governing Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and over 30 representatives from ten various political parties presented their perspectives and expressed their concerns. During their discussion, the state Congress delegation, led by Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, requested that the Electoral Rolls be thoroughly revised.

Following these sessions, officials from law enforcement agencies, including state and central police forces, the Excise Department, and the Enforcement Directorate, participated in talks. Conversations centered on steps to control the flow of booze and money during the forthcoming elections, as well as plans for a smooth election process.
