G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture and state BJP president, led a bike rally as part of Telangana Liberation Day Festivities. The rally began at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad and is traveling nearly 300 kilometers to Parkala in the Warangal district.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, who is the BJP’s Telangana election in-charge, led the event. Participants, including BJP leaders and workers, marched to Parkala waving party banners and shouting slogans. The event will be followed by a public meeting.
The BJP is requesting that the state government declare September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day. They also advocate for the inclusion of martyr lessons in textbooks and the erection of memorials to martyrs.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the Centre’s primary formal celebration commemorating Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. The event will involve an armed forces parade.
Meanwhile, Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government will observe September 17 as National Integration Day, as it has done in past years. At the major formal gathering in Hyderabad, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will hoist the national flag, and similar ceremonies will take place in all districts, with state ministers or district collectors unfurling the national flag.
Following India’s military intervention against Nizam’s Army on September 17, 1948, the princely state of Hyderabad, which included Telangana and parts of present-day Karnataka and Maharashtra, joined the Indian Union. The day is significant in the region’s history, and it is commemorated each year with a variety of events and activities.
