Mars Inc, a global leader in pet food, has announced plans to invest Rs 800 crore to begin Phase II growth in Telangana. With an original capital expenditure of Rs 200 crore, the company’s existing plant in the Siddipet region manufactures pet food under well-known names such as Pedigree and Whiskas.
Mars Inc’s total fixed capital investment in Telangana has increased from Rs 200 crore to Rs 1500 crore as a result of this latest announcement. Mars Petcare and the Telangana government inked an MoU on December 17, 2021, suggesting an extra investment of Rs 500 crore for their manufacturing plant in the state.
In New York, State Industries Minister KT Rama Rao met with Sekhar Krishnamoorthy, the Chief Data and Analytics Officer for Pet Nutrition at Mars Inc. Recognizing the rapid growth of India’s Pet Food market, Mars announced plans to expand its Siddipet plant in Phase II.
Both the state government and Mars Inc agreed at the meeting to form a comprehensive partnership focused at improving pet care and nutrition across the country. Discussions also looked into the possibility of building projects in R&D, digital transformation, agricultural supply chains, innovation, and sustainability through this partnership.

Persistent Systems, a global services and solutions company focusing in Digital Engineering and Enterprise Modernization, plans to create 1000 new employment in Telangana over the next two years. Minister Rama Rao responded with satisfaction, saying, “Their commitment to Telangana’s growth is inspiring.” In New York, the minister met with Sandeep Kalra, the CEO and Executive Director of Persistent Systems. The discussions focused on the role of technology in propelling Telangana’s progress as a talent and innovation hotspot.
