Eid Al Adha Holiday in Telangana: Banks and Organisations to Remain Closed in Observance of the Festival

Banks and most organisations in Telangana, like many other parts of the world, will be closed on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, which falls on June 29. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) list of proclaimed holidays, this holiday is declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

The Telangana government has also declared a holiday to commemorate the festival, which is mentioned under ‘General Holidays’ in the Telangana State Portal Calendar for 2023. This holiday is observed by both the government and the majority of private organisations throughout India, not just in Telangana.

Muslims in India and around the world celebrate Eid Al Adha with great zeal and devotion. Muslims offer prayers and sacrifice animals on this day. The event recalls Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) love to Allah and willingness to sacrifice his son. When Ibrahim was preparing to sacrifice his son, a ram was sent as a substitute, according to Islamic belief. Every year, Muslims commemorate this anniversary to honour Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah.
