TSRTC Expands Vehicle Tracking System to Improve Bus Services in Telangana

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has successfully implemented its Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) in roughly 900 metro express buses and now intends to expand the system to city regular buses. The VTS displays the Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) of bus services, allowing passengers to plan their journey and save excessive wait time at bus stops and stations.

The Tracking system was initially implemented as a pilot project in over 4,000 buses, including AC Pushpak buses operating on various routes to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) and 100 long-distance buses operating on routes such as Srisailam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Bhadrachalam, Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam. Officials are now intending to expand the car tracking system to all reservation services and special types of services in both districts and the city of Hyderabad.

While there have been some technical difficulties, the app has proven to be useful to bus riders. Tsrtc officials have directed bus drivers to spread the word about the tracking technology whenever feasible. Passengers are urged to utilise the service by downloading the TSRTC mobile app from the Google Play Store or visiting the TSRTC website (www.tsrtc.telangana.gov.in).
