Is Nepal turning into a hotbed of Hindutva after India?

What perceived as a growing threat to regional stability, the incidents like violence and chaos during Ram Navami celebrations are not just confined to India but went beyond the borders this time. The communal flare-up even reported from neighbouring Napal this time wherein saffron supporters were allegedly found creating nuisance before a Mosque during recently Held Shoba Yatra.

According to a report, a few miscreants created disturbance near a Mosque at Jangpura area in Nepal during the recently held Shoba Yatra on Ram Navami. Dozens of saffron supporters, who were part of the yatra, touched down at a Mosque and tried to foster a climate of fear in the area by jangling.

“This sort of mischievous act was witnessed for the first time,” said a local resident. The shobha yatra reached Jangpur area after covering several nearby villages and took a complete pause at Ladobela Road – the area surrounded by Muslim localities and considered as a gateway to Jangpura area. Here, the saffron activists started raising slogans aggressively. “They were holding swords and lathis in their hands together with threatening slogans like ‘Bhagwadhari Aagae, Ab Tumhari Bari Hae. Tamaam Musalman Pakistan Chale Jao,’ (Bhagwa sympathizers arrived and now will see you. Muslim should go to Pakistan). Honestly, speaking we were scared of the moment. We are very few in the Jangpura area.

Watching this, the local people from Muslim Community started gathering at the site and even on the roofs of their houses. Soon, a sense of fear developed that something unpleasant will happen at any moment. People were gathered in a big number and were aggravated over the intense sloganeering by the Hindu mob who were part of the yatra,” the report said quoting an eyewitness.

Later, it is said that, the procession of saffron activists marched towards the area and reached close to a Mosque where they waved bhagwa flags high and started raising slogans like Jai Shri Ram infront of the Mosque gate. They try to create a climate of fear out of their aggressive behaviour that took the local Muslim community by surprise and provoked.

However, the local Muslims informed the police about the mischievous act but the miscreants fled the scene watching the police entering into the picture.

Surprisingly, it’s kind of a new incident witnessed in Nepal beyond Indian borders for the first time that squarely hinting at a more chaotic situation in the days to come.
