Hyderabad: Students booked for attempt to murder after ragging junior

A group of students have been booked by the Shankarpally police for ragging a student at IBS College Shankerpally mandal in Ranga Reddy district.

Additionally, the accused were also booked for attempt to murder. As reported by the victim to the police, the group had entered his room and beaten, abused, and sexually assaulted him. A video of the assault was also uploaded to social media by the accused. Some of the accused can be heard saying, “Beat him till he dies.”

As a result of the attack, the victim alleged he sustained previous injuries. The Accused have been booked under sections 307 for attempted murder, 323 for voluntarily inflicting harm, 450 for trespass in order to commit an offense, 506 for criminal intimidation, and section 34 for common intention of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Additionally, the accused were booked under Section 4 (i)(ii) of the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act, and an investigation has begun.

34 veterinary students suspended for ragging

In another recent case, officials at the P V Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University (PVNRTVU) in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, suspended 34 veterinary students on charges of ragging. The University authorities took the highly objectionable manner in which the juniors were harassed in the name of ragging very seriously.

Among the 34 students suspended by the authority, 25 were barred from attending classes and hostels, and the remaining nine were ordered to leave their hostels, and university vehicle service was banned for them.

After juniors complained to the principal that they were being tortured by 34 seniors studying in the second and fourth year of the bachelor of veterinary science (BVSC) degree course at the University Campus College, Rajendranagar, the principal formed an internal committee with professors to investigate the matter.
